October 20, 2020 – Train the Trainer
Sticks and Stones Webinar Recording

We speak at, with, to, or about each other everyday. The words and phrases we use comprise a language which often drives attitudes and behaviors that can hurt or heal. This Train the Trainer session is intended to review some of these words, their meanings, discuss examples and their impact and how we as Christ-followers should respond. Trainers will leave equipped with better understanding of these terms, be able to lead and guide a discussion around them, along with a slide deck, references and list of additional resources.

Racial Battle Fatigue
February 11, 2021 – Workshop
Racial Battle Fatigue Webinar Recording
Mrs. Hasana Pennant Sisco, Dr. Nathan Cartagena & Dr. Theon Hill
Persistent and degrading micro-aggressions can take physical, psychological and emotional toll on racialized ethnic minorities. This can manifest as fatigue, generalized anxiety, stress, a myriad of other ills and some studies have even implied an impact on life expectancy. Racial Battle Fatigue (framework and term coined by Dr. William A Smith) is a reality for many who on a routine basis are in predominantly majority culture environments, whether it be the classroom or the workplace.
Participants in this fascinating workshop will learn and understand more about the symptoms and causes of Racial Battle Fatigue and hopefully walk away with ideas and tools on how to mitigate the effects of hostile environments which create extreme stress among ethnic minorities.
